Animals of My Land is the first children's trilingual book published in Nahuatl, Spanish and English in the United States and is designed to nourish the important bond between language, nature and culture. This book has been created with the intention of reconnecting with the ancient Aztec civilization and their language, while also cultivating both English and Spanish. With this book, children will be able to interact with Quetzali’s friends in three languages and learn to treasure animals as our friends. |
Poetry: English/Spanish
Rossy Lima offers us a migration and migrant metaphysics, a river of personal and collective speakers, a labyrinth of voices, a woman serpent, of skulls and coyotes... perhaps in the timbres of a border mermaid, a skinned figure, almost formless, Cortazar’s axolotl, a half-amphibian, half human, a migrant existence, always in rapid, unknowable, transparent, brutal change. A magnificent set of poems, in a most appropriate time. Lima is a lyrical warrior crossing. --Former Poet Laureate of the United States Juan Felipe Herrera |

Rossy Evelin Lima writes over a rock with delicate water traces. Her poetry evaporates but only to turn into a cloud and sing like rain. In this manner, the poet gives us to drink that strange liquid time that is the poem, and invites us to accompany her in her journey, a journey of stones rounded by the strength of her spirit. —Javier Tinajero Rodriguez Author of Parpados y Pajaros |
